Message from the Founder

The idea of using one’s private resources to benefit others was always a part of my identity through culture, religion and family. To care for those less fortunate than oneself is a precept in all monotheistic religions and one of the most valuable teachings of Islam expressed in the Quranic Verse in Surat Al Baqara: “ 261. The likeness of those who spend their wealth in the Way of Allâh, is as the likeness of a grain; it grows seven ears, and each ear has a hundred grains. Allâh gives manifold increase to whom He wills. And Allâh is All-Sufficient for His creatures’ needs, All-Knower.”

Since the early 1900s my family has been deeply involved in building our home governorate, El-Sharkeya, establishing high quality educational institutions, hospitals, training centers, advocacy and service centers, and houses of worship for the local communities. To date, many of these institutions are still supported and maintained by the family.

For myself, I never hesitated a second when presented with a chance to help others as though the code of giving was encrypted in my genetic makeup. When young people striving to chart their way in the business world today ask me about the components of success, I often tell them that the formula may vary but the most important thing is that success is not delectable until we develop a taste for giving back.

This foundation is established to honor and maintain the legacy of my family, and to set an example and encourage younger generations to follow the same path. Because I share my family’s conviction that a nation’s best asset is its human capital, I chose to focus on human resources development through education, leadership and entrepreneurship programs.
