Mralfi

Philanthropy, my devotion to improve human welfare, has always been a main factor of my identity; which has been encouraged through my culture, religion and foremost my family moralities. For generations, Al Alfi family has been a valuable contributor in numerous and diversified charitable activities.  Aspiring to follow the footsteps of my family, establishing the Foundation was continually my projected plan with the aim to use my private resources to benefit my environment. To care for those less fortunate is a principle in all monotheistic religions and one of the most valuable teachings of Islam expressed in the Quran Verse in Surat Al Baqara: “261: “The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed [of grain] which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies [His reward] for whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing”.

Philanthropy is indeed learned and passed down as a family tradition. Since the early 1900s my family has been significantly engaged in building El-Sharkeyya, our home governorate, launching high quality educational institutions, hospitals, training centers, advocacy and service centers, as well as houses of worship for the local communities. To date, many of these institutions are still supported and maintained by the Al Alfi family.

With my family’s true commitment and historical devotion to serve our community, and taking the message of philanthropy truly to my heart, I have never hesitated to help others. When young people striving to plan their way in the business world today ask me about the components of success, I often tell them that the formula may vary but the most important factor is that success is not gratifying until we develop a taste for giving back.

This foundation is established to honor and maintain the legacy of my family, and to set an example and encourage younger generations to follow the same path. As I share my family’s belief that a nation’s best asset is its human capital, I chose to focus on human resources development through education, leadership and entrepreneurship programs.

I look forward to sharing with you the contributions of the foundation year after year and I thank you for your interest in our work.
