Hossam El Zayat
M.Sc. in Sustainable Development at the AUC/2014-2016
  • Hossam was funded by Al Alfi Foundation to pursue an M.Sc. in sustainable development from AUC, focusing on sustainable low-energy water desalination for agriculture.
  • Hossam is currently working as a Competence-Based Education Advisor at the USAID Workforce Egypt project. The project is designed to help transform Egypt’s technical and vocational education and training (TVET) sector to produce market-driven skills. He joined the project almost a year ago, moving from his previous position as Senior Technical Manager at AUC’s Center for Applied Research on the Environment and Sustainability (CARES). At CARES, Hossam was responsible for the strategic planning and implementation of technical infrastructure related to all research projects in water desalination, renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, aquaculture, and others. Additionally, Hossam was responsible for planning and executing research projects according to CARES’ research plan, developing the necessary management and operation system, and using suitable tools to document and supervise the running experiments.
  • It is worth mentioning that, in 2015, Hossam was involved in installing Egypt’s FIRST grid-tied PV solar system at the North Coast with a total installed power of 5.2 kW.
