Specialized Training

The Educator Empowerment Program is one of Al Alfi Foundation’s flagship programs for teachers and school principals as the change makers in the educational field. The Foundation strongly believes that giving greater importance to educators’ professional development translates to better teaching and learning outcomes in our classrooms.
The main objective of this program is to provide educators with better support to improve their competencies and effectiveness in schools through specialized training sessions and workshops that improve educators’ skills.

Al Alfi Foundation has been actively involved in several collaborative projects aimed at improving educational standards, particularly in science and technology, across Egypt., with a focus on integrating modern educational techniques and resources. These initiatives reflect a comprehensive approach to educational development, focusing on teacher training, curriculum enhancement, and the integration of technology and modern teaching methodologies.

Teachers Try Science – IBM Collaboration

  • Under the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, this project involved upgrading the teaching skills of 1,200 primary and preparatory school teachers from various cities in Egypt.
  • The initiative emphasized design-based learning, encouraging teachers to integrate skills from multiple disciplines.
  • Teachers were trained to use the “Teachers Try Science” website for creating and publishing lesson plans, fostering collaboration and sharing of instructional practices.

The Queen Rania Foundation

Al Alfi Foundation joined forces with the Queen Rania Foundation to introduce Egyptian mathematics teachers to the Edraak K-12 platform. This initiative trained 600 teachers in skills-based development methodologies and inquiry learning techniques. The Edraak platform provides open educational resources in Arabic for K-12 students and educators.

IT Academy Program – Microsoft Collaboration

In partnership with Microsoft, Al Alfi Foundation created eight IT academies for the 23 Millennium Schools.
The program trained over 500 teachers, who passed the Microsoft Certified Educator exam, and also benefited students, with over 500 earning the Microsoft Office User Specialist certification.
The program also included specialized training for teachers to utilize the latest Microsoft technologies in their teaching.

Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth

This collaboration led to the establishment of Al Alfi Center for Talent Development, focusing on identifying and nurturing gifted students in STEM subjects.
The partnership included workshops and a plan to create specialized learning environments for gifted students, raising awareness among parents and teachers about the unique needs of these students.

Education First – Teacher Science and Math Training

This collaboration aimed to enhance the professional standards of science and math teachers in Egypt. In 2016, 1,352 science teachers completed their training, with 125 selected for advanced ‘Train the Trainer’ sessions. The program also included specialized training for 700 math teachers, focusing on the “5E Instructional Model.”
