Since its establishment by Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation in 2009, Aswan Heart Centre has been dedicated to advancing research and innovation in the biomedical field in Egypt.  In 2015, Al Alfi Foundation signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation to sponsor continuing education and research opportunities for the next generation of young doctors and scientists from Egypt at the world’s top universities and research centers, where they have won numerous awards for their groundbreaking research.

Al Alfi Foundation sponsors the brilliant research team at Aswan Heart Centre (AHC). The partnership has been successful in providing 11 candidates, till present, with opportunities for graduate medical studies and research at prestigious universities and research centers such as Imperial College London in the UK.

Al Alfi Fellows at AHC have the opportunity to participate in a research program fully integrated with clinical activities. This provides them with a unique resource and the benefit of mentorship and learning opportunities from some of the leading scientists in the world. The interdisciplinary approach at AHC allows teams from different backgrounds and fields of expertise to work together in a seamless fashion, conducting exciting research targeting diseases with significant relevance to the population of Egypt, Africa and the world.
