Essam Helmy
Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering department at McGill University in Canada/2019-2024
  • Essam was the Engineering department champion at his university and got the highest accumulated GPA and achieved Ahmed Zewail’s Cup. At the time, he had already published 2 peer-reviewed papers.
  • Essam requested support for his first few months in Canada till he settled in, where he was awarded a scholarship directly in the Ph.D. program at the electrical and computer engineering department at McGill University in Canada, as he was seeking a research-based career in the field of Micro-Opto-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MOEMS) and optical Nanodevices. He was highly recommended to us by Dr. Sherif Sedky, the executive president of Zewail City at the time. McGill University ranks in the top 25 of the world’s universities for 12 consecutive years.
  • He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. degree in the department of electrical engineering. He is expected to graduate in 1 or 2 years.
