Shimaa Adel
M.Sc. in Biotechnology at the AUC/2017-2020
  • After Spring 2020, Shimaa successfully earned her Master’s degree in Biotechnology from AUC with the thesis titled ” Anti-angiogenic effects of chemotherapeutic agents and their enhancement with Ot-515 and S-NACH”.
  • Shimaa participated in the graduate poster competition held by the research and creativity convention at AUC with her thesis project, and she won the first-place award.
  • In her thesis, Shimaa investigated the anti-angiogenic effects of Cisplatin and Doxorubicin, alone, and in combination with S-NACH or OT-404 using quantitative neovascularization in a chick chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) model, in the presence and absence, of tumor cells. To elucidate whether the anti-angiogenic mechanism of the compounds is via endothelial cell cytotoxicity, cytotoxicity assays were performed.
