Education First – Teacher Science and Math Training

The collaboration between AAF and Education First Foundation in 2016 marked a significant stride in enhancing the educational landscape in Egypt. This initiative was specifically tailored to elevate the professional standards of science and math teachers across the country, focusing on schools under government and official language programs.

The program had an ambitious scope, aiming to train 2,000 teachers from various schools nationwide. The primary objective was to augment the teaching skills of educators in official schools, thereby raising their level of professionalism. This goal was pursued with a keen emphasis on practical and pedagogical skill enhancement.

In the year 2016, the program achieved notable milestones. A significant number of science teachers, totaling 1,352 from primary and preparatory levels, successfully completed their training. Out of these, 125 exemplary educators were selected for advanced ‘Train the Trainer’ (TOT) science teacher training, a step aimed at creating a ripple effect in teaching excellence. Concurrently, the initiative also addressed the need for specialized training in mathematics.

The program continued into 2017 and included an incentive training session for 50 science teachers, preparing them to attain TOT certification. Such sessions were instrumental in nurturing a cadre of educators capable of disseminating advanced teaching methods and knowledge. Around 700 math teachers from both experimental and official schools participated in a comprehensive 5-day course. This course centered on the “5E Instructional Model,” a method designed to refine both teaching methodologies and personal skill sets.
